Lille Forward, Victor Osimhen has missed out on two long-standing ligue 1 record set by Former Super Eagles Player, Victor Ikpeba due to the Cancellation of the 2019/20 Ligue 1 season.
Osimhen was on Course to equal and break the record for the most goals (16) by a Nigerian in a single Ligue 1 season set in 1997/98 by Victor Ikpeba while at Monaco. Osimhen was cruising tremendously with his goal scoring form and has bagged 13 goals Already with just 3 goals left for the Youngster to equal the record.
Osimhen was also on track to equal another of Victor Ikpeba's record for the most goals (23) in all competitions in a single ligue 1 season, set in the same Year, 1997/98 . Before the Cancellation of the 2019/20 Ligue 1 season, Osimhen had 18 goals ( 13 in the league, 2 in the UCL, 2 in coupe de la ligue and 2 in coupe de France)
DON'T MISS: A move to Liverpool for Osimhen as Lille Misses out on Champions league spot, PSG to be crowned champions.
Sadly for Osimhen, the record won't be broken by him this season and probably might take a long time for Another Nigerian to have a sniff at the record if the Nigerian should secure a move away from Lille. Samuel Kalu and Josh Maja both playing at Bordeaux are another Nigerian that may have a shot at the record which has been standing for 23 Years.
