The Nigerian Super Eagles fell to a 2-1 defeat in the hands of World Cup Bound North American Side, Mexico in a Friendly Game played at the AT&T Stadium in the United States .

Jose Peseiro Began his era as Super Eagles Coach Naming a strong XI for the Encounter with the Ever-present Watford Defender, William Trost Ekong Captaining the side and Leading the team against the Mexicans.

Nigerian Starting XI: Uzoho; Awaziem, Ekong, Ajayi, Bassey; Iwobi, Aribo, Bonke, Simon; Moffi, Dessers.

The game which was played in front of a massive crowd saw Mexico take the lead in 12th Minute through Santiago Gimenez who scored from a rebound as the ball came off his body after his shot was initially saved by Uzoho. The Mexican team had the upper hand in the first 45 minutes, dominating proceedings as the Super Eagles tried to fight back.

The second half was much better for Nigeria as they found themselves leveled in the 54th Minute through last season's Europa Conference League finalist and top scorer, Cyriel Dessers whose header from a Calvin Bassey's cross restored parity in the game.

The lead was only short-lived as Nigeria soon found themselves a goal down barely two minutes after equalizing and this time, it was an Unfortunate Own-goal from the Captain, Ekong that restored the lead for Mexico. The Nigerian Skipper tried to prevent a Mexican cross from a Meeting its Target but ended up turning the ball past Uzoho who couldn't do much in that situation to stop the ball from hitting the back of the Net.

Nigeria dominated a Greater duration of the second half as they looked to fight back once again from a goal down but all effort to get a goal proved futile as the Match ended in a disappointing 2-1 lose for the Eagles.

Up next for the Super Eagles of Nigeria is another friendly game against Ecuador on the 1st of June before the AFCON qualifiers.
