Newly Promoted English Premier League Side, Nottingham Forest have Confirmed the Signing of 24 years old Super Eagles Star, Taiwo Awoniyi from German Bundesliga Side, Union Berlin.

The Nigerian Signs for a Club Record fee of £17.5m which will see Former EPL Club side, Liverpool receive a £1.5m sign-on fee.

Taiwo Awoniyi Joins Nottingham Forest, a club with rich European History having won the UEFA Champions League former called the European Cup twice. Domestically, Nottingham Forest boasts of several commendable Achievements.

Awoniyi's Move to Nottingham Forest is a good one and here are five reasons why. The FIFA U-17 World Cup Winner has raised  several Eye brow as a lot of people are watching to see how he fares in the EPL especially with a Side as Nottingham Forest who had another Nigerian in their club two seasons ago.

Though, Not a lot of people are aware that Sammy Ameobi (Nigerian-Eligible) once Played with Nottingham Forest in the Second Division of English Football from 2019-2021. The attacker is the Younger Brother of Former Super Eagles Striker, Shola Ameobi. Sammy, May not have represented Nigeria at the Senior Level but he boast of a couple of appearances for Nigeria's U-20.

Sammy Ameobi Joined Nottingham forest on the 24th of June in 2019, making 80 appearances for the club, 45 of which came in his first of two seasons. Apparently, he was a key Player in the team. Over 2 seasons, Ameobi made 80 appearances with only 8 goals and 11 assists to his name. The 30 years old is Mainly a Left winger but can be deployed as Centre Forward and a Right winger.

Ameobi's Stats for Nottingham Forest could be said to be far from Impressive and one may not have to ponder much on why he was released by the club after just two seasons.

Considering the fact that Sammy Ameobi is not known to be a scorer of too many, one may well look away from his stats at Nottingham Forest. So far in his Career, the Player has less than 40 club goals in over 300 games (stats from Transfermarkt).

Awoniyi on the other hand is yet to hit the 200 mark on club appearances and has about 60 goals to his Name. Considering the fact that the player is a proven striker, one may not have to bother too much on his performance with Nottingham Forest.  

Unlike Sammy, For Awoniyi, 8 goals in 80 appearances will certainly earn him the flop tag at Nottingham Forest but one could be sure to say that in his first season, Awoniyi should reach the 10 goals mark for Nottingham Forest just like his compatriot, Emmanuel Dennis for Watford Last Season.

As stated previously Awoniyi's Signing for Nottingham has raised several Eyebrows as many are eager to see how he fares in the League. The Nigerian Striker himself would be looking at Proving himself in the League, an Opportunity he had sought for since 2015 when he signed for Liverpool.
