Thursday, a group of bandits believed to be Fulani militias besieged the Sabon Gari (Yilpo) hamlet in Plateau State’s Mangu Local Government Area, killing one young miner, wounding two others, and kidnapping a third.<\/p>\n
According to Nandom Ishaku, a community youth leader, who confirmed the attack to Footynaija on Friday, armed Fulani bandits ambushed a group of youths returning to the village from mining. The attack killed one miner, KYenshak, injured two others, and abducted a third. The attack occurred along the Aloghom-Yilpo-Mwansat college axis.<\/p>\n
On Thursday at approximately 3:55 pm, armed Fulani militias attacked a group of youths returning from tin mining along the Aloghom-Yilpo-Mwansat college axis. The attack resulted in the death of Kyenshak, two other youths sustained gunshot wounds, and one person was abducted. The peaceful and loving people of Sabon Gari (Yilpo) community were once again hit hard by this tragic event. As far as Ishaku is concerned, the militia have no idea if he is alive or dead.<\/p>\n
He elaborated by saying that the assault follows a statement by a Fulani media group, GAFDAN, which accused young people in the Aloghom community of robbing herders of their animals and attacking them.<\/p>\n
An alarming declaration was issued a few days ago by a Fulani group called GAFDAN, which accused teenagers in Aloghom of robbing Fulani ranchers of their animals.<\/p>\n
Because that has always been how they operate, we understood right away that the statement was setting the stage for an imminent attack. In order to rationalise whatever attack they plot, they will make up false accusations.<\/p>\n
The frustrating part is that we promptly notified security personnel of the statement and warned of an impending attack, but the individuals in charge of security did not take our warning seriously.
