About 15,000 consumer complaints received thru online and physical means inside the Lagos Zonal Office of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, have been handled.
During a discussion with journalists at the FCCPC office in Ikeja, Dr. Olubunmi Otti, the commission’s zonal coordinator, revealed this.
If customers are unhappy with a product or service, they can contact the commission thru its website or go to its Lagos Corporate Office, as Otti stated.
She made the point that when people pay for something, they should get something of value, and that if their expectations aren’t satisfied, they can go to the FCCPC for help.
She asserts that customers are required to address their concerns with the applicable service provider before contacting the commission.
She noted that customers can take their complaints to the FCCPC’s Lagos office or submit them online if the issue is still unresolved.
According to Otti, in order for the commission to conduct a thorough investigation, complainants must supply enough information.
She detailed everything that was needed, including the address and location of the service provider, proof of payment (such as a receipt), the amount at stake, and the type of remedy that was being sought.
The zonal coordinator shared the information that the Lagos office had handled almost 17,000 complaints, both online and in-person, with a success rate of roughly 15,000 cases.
Consumers’ interests, she said, would be the primary targets of the commission’s action, which would also seek to promote fair business practices and guarantee that the public would receive fair value for their money.
