In advance of the Sallah celebration, the Nigerian Railway Corporation, or NRC, has declared a brief extension of train service along the Lagos-Ibadan Train Service corridor.
Mr. Callistus Unyimadu, the company’s chief public relations officer, revealed this in a statement released on Saturday.
As many Nigerians go to spend the holiday season with family and friends, the NRC claims that the temporary change was made to accommodate the expected increase in passenger traffic.
According to the agreement, Tuesday, May 26, would see six train runs rather than the four that are typically planned for the route.
According to the statement, trains would depart from Lagos at 7:45 a.m., 1:40 p.m., and 4:00 p.m., and from Ibadan at 8:00 a.m., 10:50 a.m., and 4:30 p.m. The expansion of train services, according to NRC, was a short-term solution created especially for the Sallah travel period.
The message stated that “the regular Tuesday schedule of four trips would resume after the celebration.”
Additionally, the company indicated that just four train trips would operate on Thursday, May 28, during the time under investigation, modifying its newly implemented Thursday six-trip operations.
The regular six-trip Thursday schedule would resume the week after the holiday, according to the NRC.
