Martins Vincent Otse, better known on social media as VeryDarkMan, has formally disassociated himself from claims made in a widely shared video that he supported a religious narrative intended to incite conflict between Muslims and Christians in Nigeria.
A young man was seen in the video being interrogated and beaten after allegedly going into a mosque to pray.
In response to the accusations, VDM stated: “In this video, it is said that the young man sitting on the ground entered a mosque to pray. They suspected him of something because he didn’t fit in, so they took him outside the mosque for questioning and decided to beat him up because he wasn’t speaking.”
He admitted that he is a Christian who is supported by the Christian Association of Nigeria, Deeper Life Bible Church, and me (Verydarkman) when they were hitting him.
He claimed that Verydarkman is substantially funding him and others to incite unrest and advance the idea that Muslims are persecuting Christians.
“I want to make it clear that these accusations are untrue. I have never met the young man, and I have never supported any religious story or propaganda.
“I will never do anything that will result in chaos or fatalities.
“Lastly, anyone who can provide me with useful information about the man in the video will receive one million Naira.”
