Those affected by election-related violence in Osun State are encouraged to submit their claims to access the state’s N500 million relief fund.
This call to action was made by Adewale Egbedun, the Chairman of the Osun State Election Violence Relief Committee and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, during the committee’s first meeting on Thursday.
Egbedun mentioned that the committee has started its work by reviewing the complaints that have already been received and compiled, while also providing a chance for other affected individuals to present their cases for evaluation.
He clarified that the committee’s duties include gathering complaints, verifying legitimate claims, and ensuring that approved assistance reaches those who experienced losses due to election-related events.
He stated, “The process will be carried out in a fair and transparent manner, with decisions made based on the facts and circumstances of each case.
“Every submission will be taken very seriously, and decisions will be made with a focus on facts, fairness, and compassion.”
The Speaker urged individuals who are still receiving medical treatment for injuries from election-related violence to come forward, either directly or through their relatives or authorized representatives.
He said, “Those who are still in hospitals due to injuries from the election-related incidents should reach out, preferably through their family members or representatives, to present their cases to the committee.”
Egbedun also mentioned that the committee would coordinate with relevant parties to ensure proper support for the victims.
