Azeez scores twice as Super Eagles defeat Zimbabwe in Unity Cup

In Tuesday night’s semi-final match of the Unity Cup, the Super Eagles beat the Warriors of Zimbabwe 2-0, with goals from Femi Azeez, who made his debut in the match.

After receiving the ball from Terem Moffi, Azeez scored Nigeria’s first goal in the sixth minute with a spectacular shot from outside the penalty area. First half play was all Super Eagles as they shut out their opponents.

Moffi, Alhassan Yusuf, and Philip Otele all had opportunities to extend Nigeria’s lead before halftime, but they failed to take them. Despite Zimbabwe’s dominance in the second half, the Super Eagles’ defence held firm.

Azeez scored the second goal for the Super Eagles only two minutes after the hour after receiving a fantastic assist from Otele inside the penalty area.

Twenty minutes before the end of the game, Zimbabwe had a chance to tie the game thanks to a spectacular save by Arthur Okonkwo.

On Saturday, at The Valley, Nigeria will play in the final against either Jamaica or India.
