As part of measures to increase operational efficiency and reinforce ongoing policing reforms, the redeployment of Commissioners of Police to eight state commands and various critical formations within the Nigeria Police Force has been approved by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, announced the posts on Thursday in a statement. The postings, which have been approved by the Police Service Commission, are meant to promote leadership, intelligence-driven policing, and service delivery nationwide.
The statement has announced the following appointments to the position of Commissioner of Police for the following state commands: Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo (Abia), Ayodeji Faniyan (Plateau), Saka Adewale Ajao (Bayelsa), Ajo Geoffrey Ordue (Cross River), Nanna Oji Ama (Anambra), Patrick Daaor (Edo), Tani Murtala (Jigawa), and Samuel Erale (Delta).
Other senior officers were also sent to strategic departments and formations by the IGP. These departments and formations include the Police Staff College, the Police Academy, the Department of Training and Development (DTD), the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), and the Force Intelligence Department (FID).
The following deployments were approved: CP Intelligence & Training, Force Intelligence Department (FID), Abuja; CP Yemi John Oyeniyi, CP INTERPOL, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja; CP Charles Ezekwesiri Dike, CP Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Department of Training and Development (DTD), Force Headquarters (FHQ), Abuja; CP Aina Adesola, CP Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos; CP Uduak Ita Otu.
“Chiefs Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf, Taiwo A. Adedeji, Ajayi Oluyemi, Bolanle Aremu, and Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf are from the following units: General Investigation (G.I.), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja, the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) at Force Headquarters in Abuja, and the Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT) branch of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja.
“The following individuals are associated with this position: CP Inspectorate at Force Headquarters, Abuja; CP Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, Deputy Commandant at Police Staff College (PSC), Jos; CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, CP at Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos; CP Rita Oyintare Oki, CP at Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Kaduna; CP Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura.”
Along with CP Nelson Nwamana, CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, CP Rita Oyintare Oki, CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo, CP Rita Oyintare Oki is assigned to the Department of Finance and Administration at the Force Headquarters Annex in Lagos, and CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo is posted to the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Gombe. All of these individuals are impacted by the redeployment.
Disu gave the newly deployed commissioners a mission: to use their knowledge to increase intelligence-led policing, boost operational performance, encourage professionalism, and forge stronger partnerships with local communities.
Encouraging the officers to uphold the utmost levels of discipline, accountability, and efficient service delivery, he reiterated their commitment to protecting lives and property.
Improving operational capacity, enhancing institutional efficiency, and delivering superior policing services nationally are all part of the Nigeria Police Force’s reform program, which includes the current redeployment, according to the statement.
