Terrorists and bandits are taxing farmers in the country’s north, according to the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF).
Professor Tukur Baba, the Forum’s national publicity secretary, revealed everything on Saturday during an appearance with the ‘Morning Show’ on Arise Television.
He was bemoaning the fact that farmers also hire criminals to steal their harvests as a response to the rising insecurity in Nigeria, especially in the north.
The farmers are paying bandits to harvest their crops, and the bandits are taxing them just to get access to their fields. Most of us weren’t shocked to hear about the World Food Programme.
“Over the past many years, the Arewa Consultative Forum has been highlighting the serious socioeconomic issues that the people are confronting.
“The government needs to demonstrate its supremacy and attack the fundamentals of insecurity,” he proclaimed.
