Following Bobby Tambling’s death on Thursday, Chelsea issued a statement. Val, Jamie, Frankie, and Adelaide were by his side as dad quietly passed away at 84 years of age.
For 45 years, until Frank Lampard surpassed him in 2013, he held the record for most Chelsea goals with 202. He was a superb goalscorer.
Along with being a member of a dynamic and stylish Chelsea squad, Tambling also won a cup, that being the League Cup in 1965, the Blues’ first ever knockout trophy victory.
It was his eternal home at Chelsea, and football was his life,” Chelsea said in a statement in response. Talking football with the supporters at Stamford Bridge was his idea of a perfect day. He will be deeply missed by all of us.
