Victor Osimhen, a striker for the Super Eagles, will have to wait another week for Galatasaray to complete his quest for back-to-back Turkish Süper Lig titles.
To secure their title, the Yellow-Reds required a victory over Samsunspor on Saturday. Despite getting on the board in the ninth minute through Yunus Akgün, they were thrashed 4-1.
The home team hit back through goals scored by Cherif Ndiaye and Marius Mouandilmadji. Despite the loss, Galatasaray still leads Fenerbahçe by four points with 74 points.
There are still two games remaining for both teams.
If Galatasaray beat Antalyaspor at home next weekend, they would become champions for the 26th time in club history.
