Senator Darline Graham, who succeeded Lindsey Graham, announced that the funeral services for her late brother will begin in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, July 28, and end in South Carolina, his home state, the following day.
Members of the United States military will honour the late senator’s service as a retired US Air Force colonel by escorting his remains into the US Capitol.
Following a short memorial service in the Senate, a ceremonial guard from the United States Capitol Police will bring his coffin into the Capitol Rotunda.
President Trump is anticipated to attend the funeral service for Graham, which is planned to take place in the Washington National Cathedral at 2:00 p.m., following the Capitol ceremony.
According to his office, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also expressed his intention to attend.
The senator’s body will be transported to South Carolina for the second ceremony that follows later that evening.
A ceremonial flypast by F-16 fighter jets will accompany Graham’s casket as it is carried across the grounds of the South Carolina State House on Wednesday, 29 July.
Prior to his private family burial in Pickens County, South Carolina, a funeral service will be performed at the First Baptist Church of Columbia.
