Joe Igbokwe, a senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has accused Omoyele Sowore, an activist now in detention, of basking in the glory of President Bola Tinubu’s insults.
The ongoing trial involving a comment Sowore made on his social media accounts was reportedly remanded in Kuje Prison on Monday due to his alleged unwillingness to appear in court, according to footynaija.
An accusation that the president of Nigeria is a criminal has led to the activist’s prosecution. Posting on his official Facebook page in response to the Abuja Federal High Court’s remanding order, voiced his support for the ruling, saying that attacking Tinubu “is not a career.”
The APC leader further asserted that Sowore had unilaterally enforced the law by referencing other demonstrations that the activist had planned.
The nation of Nigeria is not anarchic, he stated. Sowore has been a lawbreaker for quite some time.
