In response to the increasing number of unlawful buildings and building infractions in Kano State, the governor has established a special taskforce committee with eleven members.
Specifically for the purpose of identifying, reviewing, and taking action against buildings in Kano metropolitan that were built without approval or that contravene current planning standards, the committee was formed.
During his remarks during the inauguration, Umar Farouk Ibrahim, the secretary to the state government, expressed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s concern over the increasing number of unauthorised developments in the state.
Urban revitalisation initiatives, he noted, have received substantial funding from the government to enhance both infrastructural and environmental conditions.
Road building, drainage systems, and environmental beautification have all received substantial funding from the current administration. He stated that the goal of these initiatives is to make Kano a better place to live by making it more structured.

Fairness, ethics, and professionalism, he admonished the newly elected committee members to uphold in their work.

Additionally, he emphasised that the government’s dedication to safeguarding the Kano master plan and assuring sustainable development for generations to come is unwavering.
Dr. Dalhatu Aliyu Sani, who is also the director general of the Kano Geographic Information System, chairs the committee.
Secretary Mustapha Ibrahim Fagge and Co-Secretary Yusuf Yakubu Ismail are joined by other members who are recruited from relevant sectors and include officials and experts.
In the metropolis, the committee is responsible for halting continuing developments that breach planning regulations, reviewing building approvals issued within the last two years, and identifying illegal structures in areas like Nassarawa, Fagge, Tarauni, and Kumbotso.
Reporting to the state government, the committee’s representative, Dr. Dalhatu Aliyu Sani, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in them and assured that the taskforce would carry out its responsibilities with utmost seriousness.
He promised the government that they could count on them to handle the task professionally and seriously.
