At a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, Samuel Ogbuku, the NDDC’s managing director, reported on the progress the agency has made in completing the Niger Delta’s long-delayed projects.
In his statement, Ogbuku reiterated the Commission’s commitment to achieving tangible outcomes that are in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, following a meeting with the President at the State House in Abuja.
On Wednesday in Port Harcourt, Seledi Thompson-Wakama, the Director of Corporate Affairs for the NDDC, released a statement detailing the meeting.
Ogbuku claims that the Commission’s progress has been greatly influenced by the Presidency’s consistent backing. President Tinubu has specifically asked the agency to finish inherited projects so that communities in the area can benefit from them.
Among the projects he listed as finished were an electrical project in Oron, Akwa Ibom State, and a 650-bed student housing at Niger Delta University in Amassoma, Bayelsa State.
As further evidence of the federal government’s commitment to fostering sustainable development in the Niger Delta, the NDDC chairman extended an invitation to the president to formally inaugurate the completed projects.
Several other large projects, Ogbuku said, are nearing completion and will be ready for commissioning shortly.
Ikot Ekpene’s road construction, the Niger Delta Regional Specialist Hospital, and Rivers State’s Kaa-Ataba Road and Bridge are all on this list.
The progress achieved on the 70.75km Omadino-Okerenkoko-Escravos Road and bridges in the Warri North Local Government Area was also briefed to Mr. President by him, along with the Delta State Government and Chevron Nigeria Limited.
