U.S. response to murders of Dachomo family members: “Alarming violence against Christians

The assassinations of Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo’s relatives have been strongly denounced by the US government.

Continuing violence against Christian communities and other vulnerable groups in Nigeria’s Middle Belt is highly concerning, according to the US Bureau of African Affairs, which expressed its shock about the tragedy in a statement.

The US agency has conveyed its deepest sympathies to the families of the victims and to everyone else impacted by the tragic events.

The brutal murders in Plateau State, Nigeria, of Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo’s family members are deeply regretted by the United States, according to the statement.

Christians and other marginalised people in Nigeria’s Middle Belt have been the targets of ongoing violence, which is very concerning.

To the families of the victims and everyone else impacted, our sincere sympathies go out. We need to take further measures to forestall violent incidents like as yesterday, as I emphasised last week during my meeting with Nigerian officials.

Urgent measures are required to bolster security and safeguard vulnerable people, including Christians, and those responsible must face the music.

“Our shared goal with the Nigerian government and our allies is to end terrorism, restore peace, and protect the right of all Nigerians, including Christians, to freely exercise their faith without fear of persecution or violence.”
