Traditional leaders from Oyo State met with President Bola Tinubu, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has given an explanation for their visit.
Chief Adeola Oloko, the Olubadan’s media aide, released a statement making this announcement public.
On Thursday, the statement was furnished to Footynaija. On Thursday, Tinubu was visited by the Olubadan and other notable traditional rulers of Oyo State, according to Footynaija’s reporting.
Oba Francis Alao, Olugbon of Orile-Igbon; Oba Sefiu Oyebola, Aseyin of Iseyin; Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, Balogun of Ibadanland; and Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, Osi Olubadan, were among the traditional rulers present.
Among the other heads of state present were Oba Adeyeye Oyetunji of Ajawa, High Chief S. Otolorin of Ogbomoso (representing the Soun of Ogbomoso), and Oba Abioye Basiru Olalekan of Igbeti.
In a statement that Oloko signed, Ladoja said that he and other traditional leaders went to see Tinubu to express their gratitude for the state’s schoolteachers and pupils who had been kidnapped.
As Chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Ladoja also visited Tinubu to express his gratitude for his administration’s efforts to improve the terrible state of federal roads connecting Ibadan and Oyo State to neighbouring states.
He mentioned the Badagry-Sokoto Road, which passes through the Ibarapa and Oke-Ogun districts of Oyo State, as well as the Ogbomoso-Ilorin Road dualisation and the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road. When the roads were finished, he claimed, many of the corridor’s cities and villages will be accessible.
Ladoja, in the statement made available to Footynaija on Thursday night, said, “The visit to Mr President was also aimed at appreciating the efforts of his administration in tackling the deplorable condition of federal roads linking Ibadan in particular, and Oyo State in general, with neighbouring states.
The governor of Oriire, Oba Ladoja, commented on the recent release of the kidnapped teachers and pupils, saying that while they had faith in the Nigerian security forces’ ability to deliver, they were worried about the victims’ potential eventual recovery.
“This is why we believe that the efforts of both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all stakeholders are commendable.”
