Carter Efe faces legal action by Babcock University over allegations of diploma forgery

The Nigerian streamer Carter Efe is facing legal action from Babcock University on allegations of fraud of his school certificates.

In an interview with Lagos’s Egungun, Carter said he graduated first class from the private university and then posted a photo of his fake diploma on the X platform.

According to the streamer, he graduated from university with a certificate reading “First Class Upper” in biochemistry.

Sunday, in response to the news, Babcock University issued a public statement in which it denied the accusation.

The university “will pursue appropriate legal action against those responsible for these forgeries,” it said, while assuring the public that it “has no classification known as First Class Upper.”

“WARNING: Babcock University does not recognise or award undergraduates with “Honorary Certificates” or “First Class Upper” status.

You should not believe or trust any document that makes such a claim. The statement emphasised the need of the public checking all credentials through the Registrar’s Office.
