Daniel Etim Effiong, a Nollywood actor, has defended his involvement in kissing sequences in films by claiming that one’s intentions should be taken into consideration rather than appearances.
In an online video, the actor questioned critics who criticise performers for portraying amorous situations, comparing them to medical professionals whose work involves examining private body parts.
Would you pose the same query to a gynaecologist? Are you familiar with gynaecologists? Naturally, a man is a physician who interacts with women, saves lives, and examines female genitalia on a daily basis,” he remarked.
According to Effiong, an action’s morality is not solely based on the act itself, but also on the state of a person’s heart.
The actor argued that a person’s inner qualities are more important than their outward appearance, citing biblical teachings.
He went on to say that even seemingly innocuous behaviours, like staring at someone or shaking their hand, might be used against them and that, in certain situations, they may be more damaging than kissing.
“A man’s heart has a condition that evaluates his actions, qualifies them, and determines whether they are good or bad. He continued, “It’s not what you see from the outside; it’s what the man is, the state of his heart.”
Social media users are now divided about Effiong’s opinions on acting and morality as a result of his remarks.
