An appeal by Elyakub Nabayi, a candidate for the House of Representatives, has begun hearing arguments at the Federal High Court in Dutse. Nabayi is contesting the results of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election, which chose Hussaini Adamu Jabo to represent the Hadejia/Auyo/Kafin Hausa region.
During the virtual court session, plaintiff’s attorney Barrister Zaharadden Jamilu expressed his displeasure with the way the primary election was handled. In three wards, he claimed, there were instances of electoral malpractice and anomalies.
The APC and defendants’ lawyer, Barrister Baffa Alasan, maintained that the primary election followed all applicable electoral rules and laws and that the process was free of anomalies.
The court postponed the lawsuit until July 2, 2026, after hearing arguments from both sides, so that each party may present witnesses and further evidence.
