State governors should not squander their states’ tax money on pointless flyovers, according to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
While receiving a cordial visit from Oba Rashidi Ladoja, Olubadan of Ibadanland, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, he made this fact known.
He thinks governors should invest in road networks that benefit residents rather than flyovers since it would be a better use of public funds.
“They should construct road networks to enhance the quality of life instead of flyovers where there is no significant traffic,” President Tinubu stated.
He brought attention to the fact that the Federation Account Allocation Committee’s (FAAC) monthly allocations had multiplied by four or five.
Tinubu elaborated by saying that the practice of state and local governments taking out loans to cover employee salaries and pensions has come to a stop under his administration.
“Their current allocation is four to five times what it was before. The use of loans to cover salaries has ceased, he added.
According to Footynaija, the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) disbursed a minimum of N53.3 trillion to the three branches of Nigerian government from March 2023 to May 2026.
