The remarks made by Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential communications advisor, regarding the Osun State governorship race have been strongly criticised by David Adeleke, better known as Davido, an Afrobeats singer.
This whole thing started when Davido went on X on Thursday to celebrate President Bola Tinubu’s phone call with Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, according to Footynaija.
Davido said in his tweet that he “witnessed history” during the phone call.
Bashir Ahmad responded by saying he was saving Davido’s tweet and was sure the musician will come back to X to voice his disappointment with the governorship election results from August 15.
“I have bookmarked this tweet. For what’s to come, it will be a point of reference. Bashir warned that if the results from August 15 were negative, the user would return to the site to express their disappointment.
In response, Davido made another statement that made fun of Bashir’s performance in the APC primary.
You received sixteen votes in the primaries, my friend. “Just let it be,” the artist captioned her message.
Despite spending eight years in the government of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, Davido claimed in another post that the former aide had failed to improve the lives of his village residents.
“One award is your yardstick for success. For me, success is defined by sold-out concerts, massive online streaming, international renown, and the fact that people all over the world are singing my songs.
Even with the support of the government, you were unable to garner enough support among your little district. As a little lad, you stumbled into politics.
Your impoverished village remained unchanged throughout the eight years you spent with the last president.
We all have our own unique medals, Bashir. As you sit around hoping for crumbs from the government, I will keep motivating the youth and future generations,” Davido stated.
